Intrigue
As opposed to typical plots in which the main character follows a predetermined path, defeating enemies through force or rudimentary cunning, some authors build the plot around intrigue.
In such books there is often little direct action and direct wall-to-wall confrontations. On the contrary, everything is decided by indirect methods, deception, complex political games, treaties and their treacherous violation.
Intrigues most often coexist with complex political games. The heroes are eminent nobles or part of a complex political system. Moreover, the opponents also weave intrigues and an invisible confrontation unfolds in the silence of offices, only occasionally breaking through with some kind of active actions.
Sometimes the plot is based on a confrontation with an initially much stronger enemy, which is simply impossible to defeat on your own. But he can be weakened, outwitted, or even forced to act in his own interests (even if he doesn't realize it).
Heroes deploy complex multi-move combinations when the result depends on many factors that can be influenced by you, your opponent and the factor of chance.
And the main character here is not necessarily the strongest - rather, he is the most cunning, able to foresee a greater number of factors, or has knowledge that his opponents do not have.
The plot often moves at a rather leisurely pace with little action. Moreover, the author does not explain many of the motives until the very end of the book - the complex web of intrigue remains a mystery not only for the participants, but also for an outside observer in the form of a reader. And only towards the end of the book or at its climax, the intentions of the heroes, the causes and consequences of their actions become clear, and a logical result is achieved.
If the reader is a fan of action and constant active development of events, then most likely he will get bored at the beginning of the book and is unlikely to read to the end.
On the other hand, fans of complex intellectual confrontations and multi-move combinations will clearly find this book much more interesting.

Gorelik Elena – Your name is Human
“The main character, by chance finding himself in space, finds true friends, acquires a spaceship, powerful weapons, alien superpowers, and begins to successfully intervene in galactic politics...” You will not find anything like that in this book. That is, the heroine was lucky with her friends, but with everything else, alas. The ship was taken away, she was not given superpowers, and she will only be allowed into Big Politics in the form of a bargaining pawn. Contrary to the opinion of the people themselves, no one is waiting for earthlings there. But not everything is so sad when you have a choice - sadly live as guest workers somewhere beyond the Little Dipper, or, playing cat and mouse with death, return home. Not all is lost when the inexplicable kinship of souls makes you forget that they are “different animals.” And then, perhaps, the main question arises: who more deserves the right to be called a Man?
