Hero is an outcast

Hero is an outcast

Books in which the main character is forced to be an outcast - a “second-class” person, deprived of normal opportunities compared to ordinary people and often persecuted.

This may be due to the hero's belonging to a persecuted race, unconventional (reproachable) opportunities, or simply due to humble origins (even slave status).

Starting a journey in the status of an outcast often becomes the fate of the heroes of books about “misfits,” although sometimes the author simply chooses a representative of the city “bottom” as the main character.

On the one hand, this makes the normal existence of the hero very difficult, depriving him of personal relationships and normal social status.

But very often, thanks to this, the hero is forced to be especially active in his development. In the first stages of the plot - to simply survive, and later - to gradually regain normal social status and even rise in the hierarchy. Sometimes he succeeds, sometimes throughout the entire book or series of books he is forced to eke out a miserable existence.

The reader often empathizes with the hero, who is unfairly (or fairly - for negative heroes) persecuted by everyone around him.
