Web-interface

Web-interface

Every system needs an interface that users can interact with to control it and its functions. Physical buttons or switches are the simplest and most intuitive option for simple actions. However, for complex systems that require control of multiple parameters and functions, physical remote controls can be difficult to understand without prior preparation.

Using electronics with touch screens or a desktop computer is a better option for control. A web browser can be used to control the device, without the need to install a special program on the user's device. The capabilities of modern browser engines allow for the creation of complex control interfaces, from simple buttons to three-dimensional interfaces with animation and sound.

For frequently used functions, a simple panel with several buttons that fits on the screen of a computer or phone is advisable. For fine-tuning, users can switch to the corresponding menu.

Physical buttons should not be completely eliminated, because software errors are always possible. It is essential to provide at least a physical on/off and emergency stop button. For constantly used functions, it is advisable to add a separate button to avoid constantly accessing the phone or computer. All other functions can be safely delegated to the web interface.

The web management interface has advantages when adding new functions. Adding a few lines of code is easier than adding real buttons, which can require a complete redesign of the physical control panel. The virtual control panel can be expanded at any time, and unnecessary buttons can be hidden or removed.

An important advantage of the web management interface is remote management. Controlling a device through a browser allows users to open the desired page from anywhere, as long as they have an internet connection. The device must also be connected to the global network, which requires minimal changes compared to devices with only local control. If remote control is not required, users can organize control over a local network, allowing them to use any phone or computer in the house to control a smart home or 3D printer.

Overall, the flexibility, versatility, and cross-platform benefits of the web interface outweigh the need to connect the device to a local or global network.
