Shumil Pavel - This world was not invented by us

Like all books by the author, Kgiga first of all carries a huge charge of positivity. Yes, there was a place for blood, and betrayal, and, ahem, a kind of love line. But first of all, this is a representative of old science fiction, in which the main characters are scientists and explorers first, and warriors second.

The plot is closest to the Strugatskys with their “it’s hard to be a god.” Only people do not hide their presence at all. And it would be difficult for them to disguise themselves, given that the planet is inhabited by upright, intelligent cats. The goal of the expedition is very simple - to push civilization in its development. And for this we need a strong state that can give impetus to the development of the rest of the population. The first contact was quite successful and friendly relations began with one of the feline rulers. But in any state there are many contenders for high positions, and these contenders do not hesitate to attempt murder and even openly attempt a coup.

Humanity has long conquered the stars and has a huge amount of knowledge and technology. It’s just that people can only use the simplest devices on someone else’s behalf. They are, of course, head and shoulders above the local population, armed with a maximum of swords and crossbows. But people are not omnipotent and may well suffer in the unfolding conflict

The main character is a native inhabitant of the planet, a slave given by the ruler to the people. But there can be no talk of any slavery in a team of people. And the young cat becomes the youngest member of the team. Moreover, full-fledged, with rights and responsibilities. Well, then all that remains is to watch how a team of people moves towards their goal. Moreover, there are no insurmountable obstacles for them, and any problems are solved jokingly.
