Nick Troy – Hate Machine

In the near future, an alternate present is the setting for events that unfold in a story about characters with different personalities and interests. Only one thing unites them - they all lead unconventional lives and possess character traits that set them apart from the norm. However, they all become victims of the "Internet hate machine," which turns their world upside down. This book is a fantasy about how computer society can restore justice and not just engage in meaningless online battles.

Initially, the odds seem stacked against the mysterious defenders of justice as they face off against the powerful and corrupt. The latter have everything they need - money, influence, and a complete lack of principles. But the former have something that cannot be measured by material possessions - unique skills that make a real difference. In the first book of the series, the plot is just beginning to unfold, with the real "Avengers" operating behind the scenes. At the center of the story is the fate of an unusual girl. She is a brilliant reclusive hacker and killer who works for an oligarch. Each character in the story leads a life that is very different from the norm and has its own principles that others may not understand.

The story takes place in a world that is familiar to us, with references to popular technology, internet slang, and real-life Moscow experiences. In some ways, the book resembles tabloid detective stories like Dontsova, but with an unusual and unique setting. Therefore, readers should not expect too much seriousness or depth from the plot, as this is only the first book in the series.
