Church

It is difficult to imagine a person who has never encountered the church and its institutions in real life. You may not necessarily be a believer, but you will still know about the religion and traditions common in your country. For Slavic people this is most often Christianity, for Arab countries - Islam, etc.

Of course, religions also turn into the plot of science fiction books. And taking into account the fact that the fantasy action develops in a medieval flavor, the church usually has considerable influence there.

Of course, it is difficult to imagine that in another world they will believe in the same god as in the world we are accustomed to. More often than not, a god (or even a set of gods) will be different. But the general signs of faith will still be familiar. Self-sacrifice, forgiveness, fighting sins, helping one's neighbor. All the positive concepts characteristic of our usual church will most likely be present in the fairy-tale world. Moreover, unlike our world, in fantasy there may be real demons or dark gods who can quite realistically (and not abstractly) try to take over your soul and body. And the church not only instructs you morally, but also acts as a real force that fights against very specific evil.

A fantasy church can inherit both positive and negative features of a real church. In addition to officially preached values, the church and its representatives (as in the real world) can fight for power, indulge in vices and persecute people just because their faith does not correspond to the canon.

If in our world miracles remain only in legends, then in a fairy-tale world the church will have very real magical powers. Holy magic, palladins, inquisitors - all this allows the church to be a real force in combat. And in a large-scale confrontation, direct intervention of divine forces is quite possible.

The main character can be either on the side of the “good forces” or persecuted by the church. In any case, the interests and capabilities of the church will have a significant impact on the development of the plot
