Fighting evil

Each person has a subjective opinion about what is good or evil. Often, heroes fight for their values, but at the same time, their opponents are the same people who simply have a different opinion on the world order. Well, or heroes can be pawns in the confrontation of states that have their own interests. In any case, at a certain moment, a dilemma may arise before the hero, whether he is fighting on the right side.

But there is a simple plot move that will save the heroes and the reader from having to make a difficult moral choice. Can introduce "absolute evil" into the plot. This can be a powerful force, alien to all living things. Moreover, power can be both natural and rational. It's just that her mind will be directed to more effective destruction of the enemy. It is impossible or inexpedient to negotiate with evil, because it will not retreat from its goals, no matter how hard you convince it. Compromise is also impossible - any concession can be very expensive.

Reasonable representatives of the world can also be evil. It's just that some country or race may aim to capture or destroy its neighbors or even the entire world. Here, again, despite the fact that they are as intelligent as the heroes, compromise becomes impossible. It is difficult to compromise with those who set as their goal global destruction or a radical change in the world order.

Evil can arise directly in the book itself - an invasion of demons or a breakthrough of chaos begins. Or the confrontation may already last for hundreds of years, densely entering all spheres of the life of civilization.

For science fiction, evil is most often an alien race that wants to enslave or simply destroy humanity. Moreover, they are as alien as possible to human culture or do not have intelligence in the usual sense. They can have intelligence, but have moral and ethical norms that do not provide for cooperation with other intelligent people or do not consider people worthy of attention at all. When they just want to use your planet for their own purposes, destroying all living things on it along the way - there is no need for negotiations and pity for the enemy.

The main character usually has abilities that allow not only to successfully fight evil. The standard plot stamp with the "chosenness" of the hero allows him to divide his ego with the ability to end the conflict once and for all. But, of course, it is not easy, and the hero has to go through many trials, fight with increasingly strong opponents and reveal his potential

Of course, despite the fact that evil is in principle absolute, among ordinary people there will always be "defectors" or those who want to solve their own problems at the expense of others. And the heroes not only have to fight against evil itself. At the same time, we have to face the opposition of ordinary people. On the one hand, it can be even more difficult, since people can turn out to be smarter or more cunning than stronger, but "dumb" opponents. On the other hand, the heroes have no need to feel sorry for someone - after all, the opponents are not just fighting for their interests, they are actually leaving others (and often themselves) for the future.

Of course, the fight against evil is a simplification of the plot. It is most often used in books of heroic fantasy or combat fiction. On the other hand, the plot of such books is full of active actions, simply leaving no opportunities for doubts and moral torments, which can make the reader bored.

Dalin Maxim – My Holy Land

Author: Dalin Maxim

The chosen one, the unfortunate, the good king, hidden in infancy from enemies and called upon to save the country when his time struck. Stamps, stamps, stamps, gems of eternal subjects, trampled by herds of epigones, like the steps of a temple - by the soles of idle tourists. In the noosphere, where good has long been no longer even with fists, but with sword and magic, a blaster and a hydrogen bomb, where the positive hero is no longer a walking mouthpiece of virtues, white, boring, cloying, like a lump in semolina, but a brave fellow, whatever manages to hit or shoot first, there is no place for a novel about a righteous man. Is he boring, a prosperous boy from a good family, a teenager and a dropout? Is he funny, Ivanushka the fool, having peaceful conversations with demons and dragons? Is he ridiculous, a white warrior who cannot ride a horse, armed with a smile, a chocolate bar and aspirin? Who needs him in hell, where kickbacks are cheerfully sawed - a naively naked soul among souls dressed in armor? And what can he do, alone, against a united hell? Only to die nobly? Have you already decided? But hold on, dear audience.
